The What.
Ito is a popular party game that originated in Japan.
A prompt is selected: vacation destination.
Everyone draws a number randomly 1-100.
The scale: the worst. ← 1 to 100 → the best.
Players respond to the prompt based on the number, without explicitly revealing it.
All players collectively work together to order themselves from low to high.
* can be played as a drinking or non-drinking game.
The Problem.
Ito put up generational numbers (in my friend group) due to its popularity. However, there was no means to play without the card-game version.
The Solution.
Developed (vibe-coded) a web-app version as a homage to the original game. Both in English and Japanese.
The Approach.
Converted game mechanics into online, web version.
Created a low-fi prototype and added additional features, improvements and updates between iterations.
Gather feedback from play-testing.
Incorporated human-centered design principles
How do I engineer the five senses?
The Challenge.
Crashing multi-player, online play.
Optimizing and crafting the perfect UX.
Online version =/ real-life version.
Ugly outputs from AI.
The Fix.
15+ iterations, on-going development.
Integrating firebase server and database for online play and retaining the memory of custom bank of prompts/topics.
Play-testing and relentlessly collecting feedback.
Used prompt engineering techniques for the best AI outputs.
The Outcome.
Played by users around the world.
Played daily by game-lovers.
